The beginning of the week she was spitting/vomiting a significant amount of her feedings. She would cry anytime she was laid down and she had the hiccups nearly constantly. We played with the idea of reflux and started feeding her in an upright position and she slept in the swing for two nights. After keeping her feedings down for two days, yesterday we tried laying her flat again. She did just fine, so whatever was going on in the beginning of the week, we are past for the time being.
Nights have been difficult this week as well. Sleep was very hard to come by the beginning of the week. Natalie does not like to fall asleep. I continue to insist that she will not miss anything and we will not leave her behind if we go somewhere, yet she is determined to stay awake. Come bedtime that makes for an overly tired, cranky baby. Moreover, a tired cranky baby makes for tired cranky parents. Beginning of the week, we were up until around 1:30am. Last night she was in bed at 9:30pm, woke at 10:30, and after taking her pacifier, fell right back asleep.
Last night was also the first night she slept in her crib. We had her in our room, sleeping in the napper section of our Graco Pack-n-Play. While she would still fit in there to sleep, with the way she moves and stretches constantly, she gets frustrated if she cannot stretch her legs out completely. Her bedroom is next to ours, so there is not much need for a baby monitor at night, and somehow I usually seem to wake up just before she does… Her dad, however, is a different story (Apparently, they have research to show that a baby crying is not even in the top 10 things that wake a male up at night. However regardless of whether or not a woman is a mother, it is number 1 on the female list.).
The Olmstead Grandparents are coming into town this weekend, so she will have lots of cuddles this weekend, and for as much as she has insisted on being held this week, I will gladly give my arms a rest!
