Grandma and Grandpa Olmstead were here June 12th and 13th. Natalie is having stranger anxiety, so unless she sees someone weekly, she gets upset when they hold her. It took her a bit to warm up to Grandma, and took most of an afternoon to warm up to Grandpa.
Last weekend Tim and Candy (Jason’s cousin and wife) were down for a disk golf tournament. They came by on Saturday evening and had dinner with us. After a long day in the heat and sun and with the proximity to Natalie’s bedtime, they did not stay very long.
Sunday we went to my parents’ house for Father’s Day. Jason then had jury duty Monday and Tuesday.
Some days I wonder where the time goes. On days we both work, the morning is consumed with trying to get everyone ready and out the door. After work, we get home, hopefully eat by 6:30 and spend two hours together before Natalie’s bedtime around 8pm. We then pick up, finish what is necessary and then we hit the pillows around 9 (on a good night). On days we are off, we run errands, play, and hopefully get a nap in to attempt to catch up on the sleep deficit. The days and weeks fly by.
Natalie is getting closer to sitting unsupported. She is quite top heavy and frequently topples over. She still does not show much incentive to crawl and would much rather stand. She eats everything she can wrap her little hands around. Her legs are getting chubby, so we expect a growth spurt to happen anytime. We have our 6-month check-up on the 9th of July. Our last weigh-in at home Natalie was just under 14lbs. She is wearing 6-month clothes (in most brands, with most of her clothes being Carters) and is moving up to the 9-month clothes as mom cuts the tags off. Nearly everything with a 3-month label has been packed up, with the exception of some pants and hats. The 3-month onsies are much too small on the long torso and cloth diapers.

Recently Natalie’s food intake has required me to dip into my freezer stash of milk on a regular basis. Between the increased intake and her 6-month birthday being next week, we decided to go ahead and introduce solids. We started her on oatmeal for the first time last night, and it was pretty comical. Next week we will move to Avocados. By starting foods on Fridays when I am off, Natalie gets 3 days of the new food before eating it at daycare on Monday. In addition, starting one new food each week is easier on my mommy brain than rotating every 3-4 days and trying to remember what day we are on!
We are looking forward to a lazy weekend after a month of very busy weekends!
