A Month of Parties!

It has been a month since an update. Time has flown!

The past month has been full of a lot of parties and get-togethers. My Grandmother turned 80 this month, so we had a party with her friends on her birthday. Then over Memorial Day weekend, all my aunts and uncles came into town.

Last weekend, Natalie, mom, and I drove up to Minneapolis to go to Cousin Monica’s high school graduation. We left at 5am for the drive up, which worked out well. Natalie slept the majority of the way and we arrived around lunchtime. The graduation was loud with the clapping, hollering and whistling. Poor Natalie kept getting startled. There was a lot of activity and my party girl is not one to miss much, so naps were minimal for the weekend. By the time the party came around on Sunday, she was pretty tired and didn’t do so well with strangers holding her. The ride home on Monday was much noisier. We did not get the early start and she quickly had had enough.

Natalie is getting closer to sitting on her own. She makes it for longer periods before she topples over. She still prefers standing. If you hold her hands, she will “walk” across a room. Natalie does her pushups very well, but does not seem too inclined to crawl. She does scoot backwards out of pushups though. She also enjoys jumping. She gets excited and her legs and arms start going crazy. I have had fists in my eye more than I can count.

We got out Natalie’s high chair, so she now sits at the table with us while we eat. She still usually insists on eating at the same time, which is currently difficult, so we have many noisy dinners. We have started giving her a sippy cup to play with (Thanks Candy!). We put a little water in it and let her figure it out. She knows how to operate it (when she is not chewing on the handles), but most of it leaks right back out her mouth down her front. Oh well, that is why it is water.

The Olmsteads are coming in for the weekend this week, and we may see Tim and Candy next weekend when they are in town for a disc golf competition.

I think that catches all the highlights!
